About Covenant Hospice & the Joyce Goldenberg Inpatient Residence

History

In 1981, leaders of each hospital in Pensacola joined together to create a hospice program serving the greater Pensacola area. From that meeting, Covenant Hospice was licensed in 1983 and is now widely recognized as one of the leading hospices in the nation.

We provide a very special kind of caring for persons with life-limiting illnesses, their families and loved ones. Covenant is proud to be accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) which is widely recognized as the highest level of standards for healthcare providers.

From our early days of serving Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, we now serve patients in 35 counties in South Alabama, Northwest Florida, and Florida's Big Bend, and care of over 1,100 patients every day.

About the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence

The Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence opened in 1992 and was named for its first volunteer Joyce Goldenberg. Joyce and her husband Sam have been great friends and supporters of Covenant Hospice, even creating and organizing an annual garage sale, which raised more than one million dollars over 11 years.

Current plans to expand the Residence include private rooms for patients and families, expanded nursing stations and parking areas, and additional common areas for families to gather.
