Angelica's Wish
In many ways, Angelica Venegas is just like any other seven-year-old girl. For fun, she loves to play Barbie with her former classmate and best friend, Brianna, and she especially loves to play with her very best friend and big sister, Andrea. Her hobbies also include drawing and coloring. She loves to show her friends and family that she loves them by creating cards. She’s a great artist and won the first prize in coloring last February in school. Angelica is also a big fan of the Disney Channel—shows like Dora the Explorer and movies like The Lion King and Shrek. But, unlike most seven-year-olds, Angelica has End-Stage Respiratory Disease and is under Covenant Hospice’s care.
When a patient is admitted to Covenant Hospice, one of the first things the staff asks them is, “What are your goals or wishes that you want to accomplish?” Angelica had a definite answer and one big wish when she first arrived: for her mother and father to get married.
